As an officially recognized instructor organization of Gigo, a leading educational brand from Taiwan, Eduperience has been dedicated to promoting Gigo’s building block curriculum. We help students gain a deeper understanding of Gigo’s patented “one-peg–five-hole” connection technology. With this globally pioneering innovation, Gigo has developed a world-class structural building block curriculum that fosters creativity, engineering thinking, and hands-on learning.
The Hong Kong Mechanical King Competition is one of the key initiatives that enables students to apply their STEAM knowledgethrough creative, hands-on challenges using Gigo building blocks. Eduperience previously provided a Gigo training program for CCC Kei To Primary School (Kowloon City). Through the dedicated efforts of both teachers and students, the participants demonstrated outstanding potential and, in their very first attempt, successfully won the Merit Award in the Upper Primary Division of the 2022/23 Mechanical Integration Competition.
Following the award, we had the privilege of interviewing the student representatives from CCC Kei To Primary School (Wanchai Church). They shared how Gigo building blocks were integrated into their curriculum and reflected on the valuable lessons they learned throughout the competition—particularly in scientific principles, renewable energy, and mechanical design.
Award-winning Entry of the Hong Kong Mechanical King Competition:
“Turtle Mary’s Environmental Journey”
Each of their mechanical creations is based on a story, connecting students’ knowledge and imagination. They not only had to complete a series of technical challenges but also thoughtfully integrate these mechanisms into the narrative, making them more meaningful.
Their award-winning project, titled “Turtle Mary’s Environmental Journey,” tells the story of a turtle’s adventurous journey in Hong Kong. In this narrative, the students incorporated various scientific principles, such as earthquake damping technology and energy distribution, demonstrating both their mastery of scientific knowledge and creative thinking.

Introduction and Significance of the Award-Winning Project
In this project, the students particularly emphasized the scientific principles behind earthquake vibration reduction in buildings and the use of renewable energy to ensure a reliable and sustainable power supply for every citizen. These aspects left a deep impression on both the judges and the audience. Additionally, they designed several creative elements, such as the surprise of a pendulum and the wonders of neutralization reactions, further demonstrating their skills and passion for STEAM.
"“Turtle Mary’s Environmental Journey”」It is not only a story full of scientific imagination but also reflects the students’ aspirations for future cities: places with stable energy supply, clean drinking water, and safe living environments. Through this project, they hope to encourage everyone to care about our living environment while showcasing the scientific knowledge they have acquired.

The School’s Forward-Looking Vision
This competition was not only a contest but also a valuable learning journey. Through their participation, the students gained a deeper understanding of numerous scientific principles. As their supporter, Mr. Ho Tat-wing, the STEAM Coordinator of CCC Kei To Primary School (Kowloon City), stated that their goal was to ensure students acquire genuine knowledge and experience during the competition, allowing them to showcase their strengths.
In the future, they will continue to participate in more competitions, constantly challenging themselves. Through this approach, they hope to nurture a new generation with a passion for science and big dreams.
With the continuous integration of technology and education, Eduperience, in collaboration with the eSports organization ER Sport, will host the IMXpo 2023 Hong Kong School STEAM Racing Challenge on December 16, 2023. This event marks the first-ever STEAM education eSports racing competition for schools in Hong Kong, combining STEAM learning with electronic racing. Primary and secondary schools are welcome to participate. For more details, please visit:https://eduperienceorg.wpcomstaging.com/imx2023-steam-racing-competition/
