IT Innovation Lab in Secondary Schools
"IT Innovation Lab in Secondary Schools" is an initiative launched by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) of the Hong Kong SAR Government. It aims to enhance secondary students’ information technology skills and interest. Initially introduced for the 2020/21 to 2022/23 school years, the program provides up to HKD 1 million in funding to each publicly funded secondary school. The funding supports the upgrading of school IT infrastructure—such as servers, VR devices, and 3D printers—as well as the organization of extracurricular activities related to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, programming, and blockchain workshops. The initiative lays a strong IT foundation for students during their secondary education and promotes the development of STEM education. The program has since been extended to cover the 2023/24 to 2025/26 school years, continuing its support for innovation and technology education in schools.
