Since last year, Everyday Education has been offering competition training programs in Hong Kong. In our first year, we proudly helped the Kowloon City branch of CCC Kei To Primary School win an Excellence Award in the Upper Primary Division of the 2022/23 “Mechanism Integration Competition.” This year, in the 2023/24 season, the number of award-winning schools we trained has grown to three. CCC Kei To Primary School (Kowloon City) made a strong comeback and won the First Runner-up, while ELCHK Primary School earned the Second Runner-up. Additionally, in the Brick Maker Cup, Po Leung Kuk Kam Tai Primary School received the Best Collaboration Award. As the official certified instructor partner of Taiwan’s Gigo, we were honored to be invited as a guest to attend the 2024 World Mechanic King Championship – Taiwan Competition, held on June 8 at Hui Wen Elementary School and Hui Wen High School in Nantun District, Taichung. This exciting event attracted nearly 1,000 participants forming 297 teams, all competing for a place in the world finals.
Serve as Guest of Honor
As guests, we were honored to participate in both the opening and award ceremonies of the event. We had the privilege of listening to insightful speeches delivered by Mr. Wu Ching-ji, former Minister of Education of Taiwan, and Ms. Lin Mei-yun, Deputy General Manager of Gigo Toys. Their sharing provided us with valuable insights into Taiwan’s efforts in promoting STEAM education and the use of Gigo building blocks. It also introduced effective ways to inspire students’ creativity and hands-on skills through these tools. We hope to encourage more individuals to engage in the study and exploration of mechanical engineering and related technologies.

Experience of Attending the Competition
During the competition, we personally witnessed the talent and creativity of the participants and enjoyed several exciting events, including the Gigo Maker Junior Cup (GMJr.), the Mechanical Integration Competition (GM), and the Robot Mission Match (R4M). Each mechanical creation showcased the designer’s dedication and ingenuity. Whether simple mechanical devices or complex structures, they were all truly impressive. This experience not only allowed us to appreciate the appeal of mechanical technology but also inspired us to reflect on the future of educational work.
Communication and Collaboration
Beyond merely observing the competition, we also had the opportunity to engage in in-depth exchanges with other guests and participants, sharing our respective ideas and experiences. Such interactions provided us with a clearer understanding of the development of mechanical technology across different countries and regions, and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration.
Conclusion
Our experience participating in the 2024 Taiwan Regional Competition of the World Mechanical King Contest has been immensely rewarding. We sincerely thank the organizers for the invitation and look forward to continuing our involvement at the World Championship to be held in Indonesia this August. Through such prestigious events, we aim to further promote mechanical technology and STEAM education, enabling more students to grow through exploration and realize their full potential.
